Should I Give Both Groups or Single Group in CA Exams?
by Neeraj Arora, your mentor for CA Inter Audit, SM and CA Final Audit
One common question students ask is —
Should I give one group or both groups?
Let me try to give you a framework that will help you decide — not just for now, but always.
Step 1: Count your remaining papers.
Some students have 6 papers left, some have 4, some only 3.
In one case, a student had 6 papers left but already had exemptions in 2 — that means only 4 were pending.
So don’t go by "how many groups are left."
Ask yourself — “How many papers do I need to prepare from scratch?”
That’s your real workload.
By the way — if Audit or SM are part of your remaining papers, just a heads-up — we are conducting special 3-day live fast track batches for both subjects. Complete details- CLICK HERE

Step 2: See how much time you have left.
Now match your time with your syllabus.
Ask yourself honestly:
Can you finish your pending classes, revise everything twice, and give 2 full syllabus mock tests per subject — all in the time you have?
If the answer is yes, then go ahead and give all the papers that you can fit in that time.
For example — if you can complete 6 papers fully (classes + 2 revisions + 2 mock tests), then give both groups. Simple.

And if not possible realistically, then give only one group. Proudly.
Now, a major warning.
Please don’t do this foolish thing of preparing one group and also trying for exemption in another paper.
NOOOOO! Stay away from that strategy. It’s not reliable and it often leads to disappointment.
Give your 100% to what you’ve decided — and don’t try to do jugaad with the rest.
Also — no one can give you micro-level guidance.
We can only guide you at a macro level.
You have to decide based on your own situation. Accordingly, learn to create a timeline. See if your efforts can fit into that timeline.
If yes, go for both groups.
If not, give one group. Proudly.
But don’t skip the attempt thinking “next time I’ll give both groups.”
That’s another mistake.
Two big mistakes to avoid:
Skipping this attempt thinking “next time I’ll give both groups.”
Preparing one group and trying for exemption in another paper.

Avoid both. Think smart. Plan honestly.
All the best.
